ABSTRACT

This paper proposes an automatic system to monitor the health status of the individuals in an estate such as their blood pressure values, their blood glucose value, their blood oxygen value, their heart rate and their respiratory rate. In particular, the system consists of an intelligent watch, a mobile application, a central server and a medical platform. The intelligent watch acquires five photoplethysmograms (PPGs) via different photo sensors with different wavelengths and transmits the PPGs to the mobile via a bluetooth transmitter. The mobile application allows the inputs of the reference values of these health indices of the individuals and displays the estimated values. Also, it sends the PPGs and these reference values to the central server. The central server estimates the health indices. The medical platform consists of a team of medical officers. They monitor the health indices of the individuals and provide the medical advices. This system can detect the occurrence of the sudden decay of the health status of the individuals. Hence, it can reduce the death rate due to the spread of the new diseases such as the COVID19. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we present the technical design of a virtual CAN network system allowing engineers from different sites to work on a single CAN segment. The system was originally developed for interconnecting students in online university classes, due to COVID-19 pandemic – to learn together the principles of SAE J1939 and ISO 11783 technologies in guided programming exercises. The developed system is based on a centralized server located on the university network and multiple clients connecting to the central server. The protocol to tunnel CAN messages is based on TCP/IP. The unsecured CAN tunnel operates in a secured VPN tunnel. The system design leverages virtual CAN channels provided by two dongle manufactures: Kvaser and Vector – this driver level technology also allows easy access of PC software to the virtual CAN network without any physical CAN hardware. Within the university network, round trip times of under 50 ms were recorded between bus segments when all users were in Germany. © 2022, VDI Verlag GMBH. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

The development and implementation of the latest information technologies for contact tracking in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic is an extremely important and urgent task, which is directly related to the possible adjustment and mitigation of quarantine restrictions without increasing the risks and threats of infection. In this article, we analyze, research, and substantiate various information technologies (such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, etc.) in contact tracking tools to prevent the spread of infectious diseases. We explore various aspects such as centralization;the need to use a central server (data warehouse);used cryptographic protection algorithms;acceptable actions when establishing contact, etc. The research results make it possible to formulate practical recommendations on the choice of information technologies for building global contact tracing systems. © 2021 IEEE.
